'Make hay while the sun shines'. We've all heard the saying but for many farmers and agricultural contractors this statement has become just as applicable when times are hard. Compared with baled silage, relying on hay as a winter feed can seem like a lower cost option. But is it actually a cheaper alternative? Or is it more a case of false economy?

More
Q. How many layers should I apply?
A. A minimum of 4 layers on a silage bale up to 50% dry matter (DM), and a minimum 6 layers on bales exceeding 50% dry matter, on all square bales and coarse crops.

An improved air barrier

To help reduce air ingression into silage bales (which interferes with the ensiling process), Visqueen Poliwrap has been specially formulated with a high tack level on both sides. This ensures that as you wrap each layer of film sticks to the layer next to it contributing to an increasingly airtight seal. As an additional benefit, Visqueen Poliwrap’s tack characteristics also eliminate long tails. Any cut ends of film simply stick to the bale.

Capable - in any climate

Visqueen Poliwrap is a product designed for global use. It is equally capable under intense sunlight (thanks to its in-built UV protection which stops any film degradation) as it is under harsh winter conditions. Demonstrating this, it is used to produce high quality baled silage by farmers in areas as diverse as the British Isles, Australia and Scandinavia.

Exceptional strength, exceptional results

No one knows more about producing high strength balewrap than bpi.agri. We were the first manufacturer in the world to produce a co-extruded multi-layer balewrapping film and have continued to develop equally innovative, equally robust products ever since. Visqueen Poliwrap maintains this track record and offers excellent stretch and tear resistance - features which make it ideal for modern, high-speed square bale and combination bale wrappers.

Greater puncture resistance

As any hole in the film surrounding a wrapped bale can cause silage juices to leak out and even more importantly disrupt the ensiling process, Visqueen Poliwrap is designed to deliver optimum puncture resistance. The levels of protection it provides far surpass those of lower quality balewrapping films which can be prone to puncturing, even when used with modern wrappers and handlers which are designed to handle bales with care.
